The BCD Travel report provides a comprehensive look into the most visited cities and countries for business travel in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The report is based on BCD's flight and rail data from 2023 across various APAC markets, giving insights into both regional and intercontinental travel trends.

Top Cities for APAC Business Travellers

The top 10 cities for business travel within the APAC region are Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Seoul, Taipei, Jakarta, and Manila. For intercontinental business travel, the top destinations include Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Munich, New York City, Paris, Los Angeles, Stuttgart, and Chicago.

Singapore: The Leading Destination for APAC Business Travel

Singapore has emerged as the leading destination for APAC business travelers, reclaiming its position as a major hub for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions post-pandemic. The city-state has maintained its status as the primary financial center in the region and now ranks as Asia's top financial center and third globally.

Top Countries for Business Travel

The top five countries for business travel within the APAC region are Singapore, China, Japan, Thailand, and Hong Kong SAR. For intercontinental business travel, the most visited countries include the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and France.

China's International Travel Recovery

Although China was the second most visited APAC country in 2023, its international travel recovery has been slower than its domestic travel rebound following the end of its zero-Covid policy. Domestic air travel in China is currently 17% above 2019 levels, while international air travel continues to recover.

Most Visited Country Globally for Business Travel

Globally, the United States remains the most visited country for business travel, followed by Germany. This aligns with the presence of four American cities in the top 10 intercontinental destinations list.

As the business travel landscape continues to evolve, it's important for industry professionals and business travelers alike to stay updated on the latest trends. Whether it's the rise of eco-friendly practices in hotels, the growing demand for low-cost carriers, or the increasing importance of technology in corporate travel management, staying informed will be key to successful business travel in the future.
